Feliz Navidad O Muerte

11 Dec

Christmas has hit the island with a vengeance.  Everything from Palm trees to Cactus have been adorned with lights and colored bows, some even playing music.  We have made an attempt to randomly walk through the neighbourhoods every day to not only enjoy the lights but to find new restaurants.  On top of discovering amazing new places to eat we have also found some houses with massive light displays that brighten up the whole block.  It has been rainy here for the last couple days so yesterday when the weather cleared we went for a long swim off the docks by La Hatch just for the exercise.  We found a new place for dinner that serves authentic North American food(hard to find here), which was a change from the onslaught of tacos and tortas.  We talked to the owner and he gave us his number so we could get free delivery to our house if we were craving a burger and fries.  We found out that there was going to be a Christmas celebration in the town square so we changed and headed downtown.  We stopped at a desert/coffee shop downtown and ordered a couple grande cappuccinos.  They were amazing but we found out that grande means GRANDE and next time we will be going for a smaller size.  Once buzzed on multiple shots of espresso we hit the square and watched as they fired up every light in town and set off fireworks from the top of the capital building.  It felt odd to be celebrating Christmas in the heat of a Caribbean night.  After the main event was over we went for a cruise and could see that all the intersections and light polls downtown had been light up with Christmas lights  as well.  There are also random Christmas trees, Santa statues and light displays all over town!   Winter wonderland had come to Cozumel, sans winter with extra wonderland!

DUDE! Did you shave your ‘stash’ and trim the goat? the last picture looks like it. MAN! I wish we were there having coffee and christmas celebrations. We are dead ass tired here and deprived of sunlight – i am chugging Vitamin D to keep my tan up!

    -1 seems very cold.

I don’t know, I will have to track him down and ask him. Probably Liz’s new Mexican boyfriend. HAHA.

Why the &#@$ would you edit out the word “#@S%”? It was a compliment. HAHA.
